LFG's 2019 Summer Intern:
Hi my name is Muriel and I am the Garden Coordinator this season! This summer I’ve been given the wonderful opportunity to work for Lady Flower Gardens.

A little history about me, I am currently a student at The King’s University in the four-year Environmental Studies degree program. I applied for LFG as a summer Internship for the program, and in hope of pursuing my passion for the environment and sustaining, preserving, and conserving it. What I have received through this job was much more. Not only did I get to fight for environmental justice, I got to fight for social justice as well.

Lady Flower Gardens is remarkable for so many reasons:
  • The variance of gifts, talents, and skills every individual brings and applies to the garden
  • The community and support that LFG’s environment creates
  • The 'working together' method, allows for LFG’s 3-acre garden to be planted, have minimal weeds, and to be harvested, so we can give it to the Edmonton's Food Bank
  • The experiential learning that the garden and forest offer. Also, the fact that everyone is willing to learn!
  • Seeing how individuals appreciate where their food is grown and the amount of work it takes to maintain a garden
  • The well rounded effects the garden has on individuals' mental, spiritual, emotional and physical health

Your generosity allows LFG to continue being a support for social agencies that practice land based community development and mental health and wellness programming for Edmontonians who face disadvantages.
