Growing up in a very small community, sustainability, development and volunteering were a way of life. Whether building playgrounds, participating in 4-H events, volunteering for our annual community Provincial Plowing Match in my younger years, to now working in the inner city where we focus on the well-being of our community: mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally. I also help develop programs that challenge our community and bring meaning to their lives. To me sustaining communities means that you join in, offer a hand, and voice your thoughts
I first heard of LFG in 2013 from Boyles Street Community Services - what I found exciting was there was a place for inner city people to cultivate, grow food, eat and donate to people in need. LFG is a place that brings me joy and an escape from the concrete and noise. It is a great venue to support our family's mental and spiritual well-being knowing that we can contribute in a small way to sustain such a gift is a blessing.
